The
Decalogue is God’s law, handed down by God through Moses, and the Ten
Commandments that the people of God must keep are referred to as the Decalogue.
There
are a portion of Christians today who claim that the Ten Commandments have been
abolished, but as long as God exists, the Ten Commandments are an eternally
immutable law that cannot be amended or abolished. Keeping the Ten Commandments
is evidence of being the people of God, and for corrupt mankind it is the most
important “way of heaven” for going back to becoming a people of God’s kingdom.
Just as citizens of
the Republic of Korea must surely keep the laws of the Republic of Korea, those
who are the people of God must obviously keep the Ten Commandments, which is
God’s law.
These
ten kinds of commandments that were given to Moses were simplified and
summarized by Jesus and given as two new laws: “You shall love the Lord your God
with all of your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind,” and, “You
shall love your neighbor as yourself.” These
are the two principles of the Ten Commandments and its completion.
That
is why a person who loves God and follows Jesus must surely keep these Ten
Commandments regardless of the circumstances-- this is the core of Teacher Suk
Sun’s teachings, and the Decalogue Stone Country is a place where people who
agree and concur with this teaching have gathered.
In
other words, the Decalogue Stone Country organization is a gathering of people
who have resolved to obey God’s law, the Ten Commandments, at all costs with a
heart that is as firm and unwavering as stone, and the assembly where all the
members of this organization gather is referred to as the General Assembly of
the Decalogue Stone Country.
The
Ten Commandments that God gave to Moses was summarized by Jesus as, “You
shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and you shall love your
neighbors as yourself.” Just as Jesus unraveled it into a new commandment,
so did Teacher Suk Sun take this new commandment and unravel it in a way that
would allow us to keep it more thoroughly and joyfully: “With your heart,
love your heavenly Real Parents who begot you, and do not fight with your
brethren but live happily and well.” Thus, He unraveled it into a new commandment
that was simpler and yet more comprehensive and authoritative.
In this way, the Ten
Commandments that God gave us is not a burdensome law; anyone who is alive has
been consciously keeping it up now. It is the basic discipline for living
beings that should be naturally heeded forever, and it is the guidepost of the
heart and the guidepost of the conscience.
For
many, just hearing of the Ten Commandments or the law is enough for people to
think of it as an extremely headache-inducing law that oppresses humans by
telling them, “Don’t do this; don’t do that,” or they think of it as a fearful
law that will result in death if they don’t keep it. But in actuality, the Ten
Commandments is a law of liberty and a law of happiness that gives us humans
eternal liberty and happiness.
Even
within the family there are family precepts and rules (etiquette) to maintain
the happiness of the family. Even
in companies, organizations, and nations there are rules, regulations, and laws
to maintain the freedom, peace, and happiness of it constituents.
They are not there
to trouble its constituents, but as a law of freedom, law of peace, and a law
of happiness, they were made to enable all people to live a life enjoying
freedom, peace, and happiness within the established rules.
Similarly,
up in heaven, the Ten Commandments were given by God as the greatest law of
freedom and the eternal law of happiness and love that would guard the freedom,
guarantee the peace, and further the happiness of all the angels and the
inhabitants of the universal nations.
In
conclusion, the Ten Commandments is a law given by God for the universal
nations, and only when the angels, the universal inhabitants, and the children
on this earth keep these laws can they happily live in eternal order, liberty,
and peace. Doalnara,
the Decalogue Stone Country, is a country made by people who have gathered with
the goal of gladly keeping these laws of heaven with their conscience and
thereby enjoying eternal happiness starting from this earth. Thus, the entire
union of such Doalnara groups all over the world is referred to as the General
Assembly of the Decalogue Stone Country.
